A new, as yet unpublished book.
A new, as yet unpublished book.
I have advanced the ideas in this book for quite some time, having published an early version as “Some Thoughts on Work in America – 1976” in the New Schools Exchange Newsletter. Not long after, I spoke with Ohio Congressman Louis Stokes about this vision. He tried to generate support for what I was proposing in the U.S. House of Representatives. Unfortunately, we were ahead of our time, and the ideas weren't as developed back then as they are now.
Over the years, I have shared the evolving drafts of the book with other political, governmental, and educational leaders. One was Erskine Bowles while he was the head of the Small Business Administration, and when he was President of the University of North Carolina. When George Voinovich was governor of Ohio, his educational policy advisor found this vision to be promising, as did Ohio State Representative Ed Kasputis. More recently, Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Executive, Armond Budish, has shown interest and on his own launched two microloan programs under county government.
My hope is that given the urgent needs of our country today, the time may finally be right for enterprise to be made accessible to everyone.
My background includes various administrative roles in post secondary education and continuing medical education.
